Psychotherapy Treatment Planning with Children in Crisis

A chapter written by Claudio Mochi and Isabella Cassina (Routledge, 2024)

Psychotherapy Treatment Planning with Children in Crisis

ABSTRACT: "Working with children and families in natural and human-made disasters requires special attention to the context as a whole. Indeed, the recovery of complex psychosocial conditions needs an effort from the entire support system that has often itself suffered severe damage.

The authors introduce the conceptualisation of treatment from a process-oriented perspective. In contrast to highly structured programmes, process-oriented interventions allow for adherence to the multiplicity of needs by ensuring attunement, consistency and predictability. The main elements of the innovative approach to crises “Coping with the present while building for the future” (CPBF) are shared".
